Elda Schwartz is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Maryland. She specialized, with a post-masters certificate, in Career Counseling from Oakland University, Michigan. Her work setting, both in Michigan and Maryland, was in community colleges, working with students and international students clarifying their academic and career goals.
Elda is a master trainer for the Global Career Development Certification (GCDF). She trained people, in work force development, in universities and private practice. Those participants had no previous career counseling training. She helped to rewrite the chapter in the GCDF manual on “Providing Career Services to Multicultural Populations.”
Elda was born in South Africa and obtained an undergraduate degree in Sociology at Reading University, England. When she relocated to the USA, 38 years ago, she attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and completed a Masters in Counseling. From the midwest, she relocated to Baltimore 16 years ago.
More recently she has developed a passion for photography and started a business called “Out & About Photos and Greeting Cards”. Her photography clients are passionate about the art of writing in their own hand, rather than sending an email or a bought greeting card. They have images of beautiful objects and places, are small works of art in themselves for each and every recipient. Receivers of an Out & About card often frame or display it on their desks, in their offices, or in their homes. She now makes enlarged and framed photo prints. She enjoys the different ways that the images resonate with people and that she has developed a communication tool. The cards have been available in the gift stores of the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA), American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) in corporate settings and other venues.
