What do you do when a student comes to you and says that they are transgender or agender? What can you do to keep them safe while honoring their needs and the needs of others?  What considerations do you need to address and what knowledge might you need to have to provide the best support? A local school counseling expert with over 30 years of school counseling experience will provide information, insights, best practices, and legal implications of working with our transgender students.  Drawing on state-wide experiences we will investigate the legal and ethical ramifications of meeting the needs of all students, K-12, in schools.

We will explore what it means to be transgender, what it is like to be a parent of a transgender child, and how to manage all of the complex social issues in schools.
